Facilitated by two professional editors and writing coaches, meetings emphasize progress, challenges, effective goals, writing practice and process, and whatever you need right now to keep moving and growing!

Folks who've attended a writing group with Eliot and Beth before and total newcomers are equally welcome. We are so excited to work with you and for you to spend time in writerly community with each other.
Beth and Eliot had so much useful information, ready to address problems I didn't even realize I had before."

"Beth's and Eliot's deep experience with writers plus their differing backgrounds add a lot of value."

—participants in previous writing group cohorts
Group size: Maximum of 10 participants, minimum of 5.

Format: Each hour-and-a-quarter-long meeting (hosted on Zoom) includes time for participants to reflect on their writing practice, report on their progress during the previous week, and set goals for the week to come. Brief writing/creativity exercises encourage participants to identify their writing strengths and challenges, consider new ideas or approaches, gather thoughts for discussion, and play around in useful ways. Previous discussion topics have included how to create achievable writing goals, perfectionism and the inner critic, the writer's many voices, and inspiration from other writers and artists.

Between sessions, we provide homework in the form of resources to read or view, tips for creating a sustainable writing practice, and ideas to explore, so that we can spend more of our time together in open conversation centering your particular experiences, knowledge, and challenges. You can spend as much or as little time on these between-sessions pieces as you wish. During sessions, Beth and Eliot are present to offer guidance, information, cheerleading, curiosity, and encouragement.

Note that this is not a workshopping group; participants do not share their work.

Zoom meetings are not recorded.

Any questions? Have accessibility needs to discuss, or other ways we might be able to help? Please email Eliot.
I didn't realize it would change me from the inside out. … I got a sense of freedom to be myself and express myself whichever way feels good to me.

Thanks so much for hosting such a safe and warm group. It means a lot to me to have facilitators who are interested in making everyone's experience as targeted as possible. I felt like I could divulge personal aspects that have prevented me from being successful in the past, and I think that's made all the difference.
